A MATTER OF STYLE
A MATTER OF STYLE
He preaches that style is everything in surfing. It was released in theaters in the USA and Japan and was a big hit, bringing back memories for surfers who knew the time, while those who see it for the first time will find it refreshingly unique. The central figures of Hawaiian surfing, which was at the top of the world in the early 70s, were Gerry Lopez and Larry Bertleman. The two were masters, skating with their own perfected lines, but after the establishment of professional surfing, the battle between Hawaii and Australia became extremely vivid. The Hawaiians who took on the Aussies on the local big waves were the enthusiastic backstabber Jeff Hackman, known as Mr. Sunset, and a group of the world's strongest locals. The Aussies were Ian Karns, who perfected the snap hack, Heat Townent, who drew soul arches, and the genius Michael Peterson. The sound was solidified with songs from the transition from rock to fusion in the 70s, such as Jimi Hendrix, Santana, and Deodato. The bluesy performances of JJ Cale and others also liven up the soulful surfing.
