Mitsuyuki Shibata
Born in 1955, lives in Hayama.

He taught himself film and photography, and began his professional career in 1977 as a full-time photographer for Japan's first surfing magazine, Surf Magazine.
He traveled abroad, mainly to Hawaii, California, and Australia, and left behind many historic photographs.
Since then, he has expanded beyond his role as a surfing photographer and has been active in the world of photography and film, demonstrating his versatility by shooting many commercials and movies.

His works capture dramatic moments, and each one is filled with a unique worldview.

"Rabbit"
Wayne Bartholomew (Rabbit) was by far the coolest guy in this era, no matter what he did.
Shibata said that he felt an aura that was far superior to that of the man at that moment.
North Shore, 1979.
