'71 G&S Twin Fin 5'9"
In the 1970s, surfing began to demand more radical movements and surfboards were designed to be shorter and shorter.
At that time, Skip Frye, who was a shaper at G&S, also began shaping models such as the Egg shorter and shorter.
In the midst of all this, a twin fin with this outline was introduced.
At the time, many California shapers were shaping twin fins with a similar outline.
This was at a time when the Twin Fish was still a kneeboard, so the Twin Fin with this outline was the first twin fin surfboard to be released to the world.
It is a very important presence in unraveling the history of twin fins.
This time, we have specially reissued the "G&S Twin Fin".
The twin stringers used at the time were custom ordered from US Blanks.
The fins are modelled after the original fins from that time and made specifically for this board.
The logo is also a perfect reproduction of the original, making this an extremely valuable model as it is exactly as it was back then.
The fin position and rail design have been modified from the original.
The fins are set slightly further forward than the original, allowing for more powerful turns.
The original had a thick and hard down rail, but by arranging it into a soft down rail,
You can enjoy high-speed surfing.
Shaper
Chris Darby
He has been active as a G&S shaper since the early 2000s.
He started shaping surfboards in 1983. His inspiration came from the classic boards of G&S from that time. He is a well-known shaper who mixes modern and classic designs and shapes boards that are easy to ride.
Growing up near the Carolinas, Chris learned surfing and shaping in the East Coast ocean and went on to work as a shaper for G&S.
Once a surfer has ridden a board shaped by Chris, they become repeat customers, and many of them continue to ask him to shape their boards.
