In the late 60's, a revolution occurred in surfboards, where only longboards existed.
"Shortboard Revolution"
Short surfboards first appeared on the market and quickly took the world by storm.
As surfboards became shorter and movements became lighter, surfing changed to a style that incorporated more maneuvers.
The Hot Curl is G&S' first short-length model.
At the time, this was a historic masterpiece that attracted attention as a board with excellent performance, combining light turns and speed.
The shape has a 50/50 rail profile that tapers down from a generously thick center.
The bottom is rounded from nose to tail, giving it a classic longboard style.
The nose and tail have a unique style with colored foam sandwiched between them.
The blanks, custom ordered from US Blanks, are a combination of stringer shape and colored blanks, just like back then.
A rare mid-length single fin that reproduces the original shape.
Shaper
Chris Darby
He has been active as a G&S shaper since the early 2000s.
He started shaping surfboards in 1983. His inspiration came from the classic boards of G&S from that time. He is a well-known shaper who mixes modern and classic designs and shapes boards that are easy to ride.
Growing up near the Carolinas, Chris learned surfing and shaping in the East Coast ocean and went on to work as a shaper for G&S.
Once a surfer has ridden a board shaped by Chris, they become repeat customers, and many of them continue to ask him to shape their boards.
