American rock band.

In the late 1960s, amid the rise of counter culture symbolized by hippies and flower power, San Francisco was the center of this movement, and the Grateful Dead, along with Jefferson Airplane, became symbols of the movement.

Formed in Palo Alto, California in 1965 , the band disbanded in 1995. Their music was known for its roots-oriented style, characterized by a " slow " feel.
